White Nationalist Tells Muslim American Radio Host: ‘People like you’ are ruining the country #HummusHaters
With all the anti-Arab bashing we see in the news every week, Arab America is determined to expose those who discriminate against our community. We will recognize those who vilify the positive influence and contributions Arabs have made to the fabric of American society. And we will use hummus as our weapon. By naming those who vilify the Arab American community as #HummusHaters, we can express our culture positively while showing intolerance to bigotry.BY: Nisreen Eadeh/Staff Writer
Amna Nawaz, host of the ABC News podcast “Uncomfortable”, sat down with Jared Taylor, a self-proclaimed “white advocate”, author, and founder of the website American Renaissance. Headlines from his work include, “Immigrant Privilege’ Drives Child Rape Epidemic”, “Black NBA Player Gets Token Fine”, and “It’s About Erasing White People”.
In their “sometimes-heated” conversation about race, Taylor had a lot to say about American Muslims.
“We built a wonderful country that your ancestors could not have [built]. That is why people like you come here,” Taylor said to Nawaz, an American-born Muslim of Pakistani origin.
“And the more of you [who] come in larger numbers, you will change the country my ancestors built into something else. And it is completely normal for me to wish to oppose that,” Taylor added.
Jared Taylor discusses America’s “race situation” in RussiaThe author has spent his entire career arguing that the white race has its own interests, and that white people deserve their own nation, separate from minorities. He believes that whites are allowing minorities to organize politically, but are themselves not doing so. Despite the fact that whites comprise the majority of government officials, Taylor believes that his race has its own interests that need to be put first.
Taylor, who was born and raised in Japan, told Nawaz that Muslims add nothing to American society, and claims immigrants are responsible for the “dispossession” of white Americans, even though Muslims make up less than 1% of the entire American population.
Taylor is completely false in his understanding that Muslims contribute nothing to American society. Muslims have the second-highest education rates among American religious groups, right after Jews who have the highest. They also have more college degrees than the general American population. And although they’re only 1% of the population, they make up 10% of the nation’s doctors.
Contrary to Taylor’s beliefs, Muslims have been here since the founding of America – as slaves. Scholars estimate that up to a third of slaves brought to America were Muslim and forced to convert to Christianity. So actually, Muslims were involved in building America into a “wonderful country,” as Taylor said.
In the interview, Taylor also argued that Trump’s Muslim ban would “slow down the dispossession of whites.” Meaning, less Muslims in the country would allow white families to catch up to the higher birth rate among non-white families.
For a man from Japan, Jared Taylor sure has a lot to say against immigration. But it seems Taylor doesn’t realize that the Muslims Trump is trying to ban from the country are actually considered white by the US government. The irony is almost beautiful!
Jared doesn’t seem like the type to do a lot of research, so instead, he should just sit down at an Arab restaurant and try some hummus. Maybe once he realizes that his fellow white immigrants contributed delicious hummus to this country, he will start to learn about their other incredible contributions, too.
