Arab Americans across the country have been reaching out to their local mayors, superintendents, and legislators to get proclamations for National Arab American Heritage Month (see our draft proclamation here that you can send to your local representatives).

Among those signing proclamations include Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, who presented Arab America with a framed proclamation on Wednesday night at our Arab American Heritage Month Reception. Joining her at the reception was Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI), who signed on behalf of her district, which is home to the largest population of Arab Americans in the US, as well as Arlington County officials.

The cities of Anaheim, California, Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Dearborn Heights, Michigan have also signed proclamations, proving that grassroots efforts from the Arab American community work! New York Governor Andrew Cuomo even took the time to send out a tweet about #ArabAmericanHeritageMonth…

The diverse and successful Arab American community is being welcomed and appreciated in cities across the country – all the more reason to celebrate this April.

Arab America would like to thank everyone who has been sending out proclamations for their local representatives to sign. If you have a signed proclamation that you would like Arab America to include on this list, please email info@arabamerica.com with the attached image.
