TV App Agency Announce Successful Launch of MBC Group’s SHAHID Smart TV App Across Middle East
TV App Agency, leaders in Smart TV and connected TV app development have developed MBC Group’s SHAHID Smart TV app which is available across the Middle East and North Africa regions exclusively on Samsung Smart TV.
The Middle East Broadcasting Centre (MBC) Group headquartered in Dubai is the first private free-to-air satellite broadcasting company in the Arab World. TV App Agency have developed the Smart TV app for their video-on-demand service SHAHID. The service recorded 284 million media views of its TV shows and series last year and is the region’s first VOD service to provide series, programs, cartoons and documentaries from a selection of MBC and non-MBC channels.
A recent study by TNS Global has found that the UAE has one of the highest percentage of television viewers in the world with over 86 percent of people watching TV at least once a day and that viewers are turning to online media as part of their changing consumption habits. It comes as no surprise that broadcasters such as MBC Group are offering OTT services and that the SHAHID app has now become the most popular app on Samsung Smart TV in the Middle Eastern region.
TV App Agency co-founder and director Bruno Pereira adds “We’re very excited with the potential of the MENA region around Smart TV and OTT. MBC Group is proving to be a great example of success in a region where there is a lot of demand for content”.
The SHAHID application is available throughout the Middle East and North African regions and is currently available exclusively on the Samsung Smart TV platform. For more information and to view a demo visit http://www.tvappagency.com/clients/#mbc
