The Blind Date Show: Egypt’s Trending YouTube Game Show

YouTube shows have slowly decreased in popularity due to the rise of shorter videos. However, some channels have been able to keep their viewers’ attention. A prominent YouTube channel in the Arab World is ‘BingeCircle’, producing enticing and engaging videos. The most famous segment is a game show called ‘The Blind Date Show.’ In this segment, two people who don’t know each other are brought in and sat on opposite sides of a divider. Throughout their ‘date,’ they are presented with different topics they are supposed to discuss while being served a snack or drink.
The topics are based on relationships/lifestyles to allow them to decide if the other person would be a match. Every episode has a different combination of topics, typically including Dating, Marriage, Lifestyle/ Social life, Money, and Red Flags.

Red Flags
- What red flags have you found in a person?
- Are you jealous or controlling?
- What are the green flags you see in a person?
Social Life and Lifestyle
- Are you a social person?
- What is nightlife for you?
- Does it matter if your significant other can’t cook?
Dating
- Would you be friends with an Ex?
- How do you feel about girl best friends/ guy best friends?
- Where would you take someone on a date?
Money
- If you love someone and they don’t have as much money, what would you do?
- What would you do if you saw that your significant other is greedy? Or cheap?
- Would you let a girl pay on a date?
Marriage
- How many years would it take for a marriage to come after dating?
- What scares you about marriage?
- How many kids would you want in the future?
Reveal
The dates are rated, added, and presented as a checkbook following each topic. Finally, after the topics are discussed between the potential couples, they are asked, “Would you go on a second date”? However, before the wall is taken down to reveal who they’ve been talking to, they must answer: ‘yes’ or ‘no.’
