Corporate America Shies Away from Arab American Initiatives

Much of corporate America has declined to actively support Arab American Heritage Month, mostly due to reactions from pro-Israel-Zionists. GEICO insurance is one firm that agreed, then disagreed to sponsor the initiative. Ben and Jerrys is the opposite, curtailing its ice cream production and sales in occupied Palestine and Israel. Contributing writer, John Mason, describes some of the negative stereotypes of Arabs that abound in American culture. Finally, we see how official U.S. policy is actively pro-Israel and therefore unfriendly to Arab Americans.

Surveillance of Palestinians from Zionism’s Early Days till now has only become more Sophisticated and Intrusive

While espionage and surveillances of Palestinians dates to the early Zionist period in the 1930s and 40s, more recent intelligence gathering by the Israel government has only become more sophisticated. It is now used to spy on key Palestinian human rights groups and perhaps even more nefariously to use facial recognition software known as ‘Blue Wolf’ to monitor Palestinians. To see the implications of such espionage, contributing writer John Mason describes its impact on the citizenry and on organizations.

Only a short time later—Another elder Palestinian dies at the hands of Occupying forces—this time as he protects his right to his little patch of ground from the Settlers

MSNBC’s Ali Velshi reported a story about an elder Palestinian, a shepherd and prominent activist, who valiantly resisted Israeli occupation through civil disobedience. Before the Velshi clip had been put back in the can, a pro-Israel media advocacy group in Boston picked up on his story, castigating him and the story. Contributing writer, John Mason, takes us into this story and a brief review of international law on foreign occupation, suggesting that Israel is contravening fundamental rules of international humanitarian law.

“No” from Israel to U.S. Opening Consulate Serving Palestinians in East Jerusalem

The Israeli prime minister has halted the Biden administration’s decision to restart the consulate in East Jerusalem to serve West Bank Palestinians. Closed by the Trump administration, this consulate is symbolically important to Palestinians because it recognizes their right to a slice of Jerusalem real estate. Contributing writer John Mason parses out this politically sensitive issue.

Palestinian advocacy can’t win on such an uneven playing field—Human rights issues rise and fall in the U.S. and Israel

American workers have been trying to support Palestinians in several ways over the years. Recently Amazon and Google workers have tried to influence their companies’ decisions to supply the Israeli military and government technology used to harm Palestinians. Another case is of AFL-CIO workers who have voted to condemn Israeli violence against Palestinians and to end U.S. financial aid to Israel. On the Israel side is the government’s attempt to quell the important work of six Palestinian human rights organizations. Contributing writer, John Mason, these three grassroots attempts to support Palestinians.

Qatar Continues its Principled Rejection of the Abraham Accords as Anti-Palestinian

Qatari diplomats are the advocates par excellence of Palestinians in international arenas, giving these diplomats an image of strong supporters of a pro-human rights foreign policy. Now they have taken the side of the Palestinians in the context of the Abraham Accords, which do very little for Palestinians either economically or in resolving the Israel Palestinian conflict. Contributing writer John Mason writes about Qatar’s principled stand.

U.S. Palestinian Community Stands Against the Palestinian Authority’s Attacks on Palestinian Leaders

By: Omar Mansour / Arab America Contributing Writer The Palestinian Authority has expanded its authoritarian crackdown on critical Palestinian voices, extending its boot from the confines of the occupied 1967 borders, or the “West Bank”, to the United States. On September 30th, Executive Director and a board member of American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) Dr. … Continued

Tit for tat or business as usual? AOC vows to block U.S. missile sales to Israel as Prime Minister Bennett says no to a Palestinian state

AOC vows to block U.S. missile sales to Israel as Prime Minister Bennett says no to a Palestinian state
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, congressional representative, along with several other progressive reps., is trying to halt the U.S. sale of missiles to Israel. The claim is that such missiles were used against Gaza the last time around and could be used like that again. This is a harder line of offense than is usual from the U.S. House. Meanwhile, an equally hard line has been taken by Israeli Prime Minister, Neftali Bennett, in claiming to put an end to any idea of a Palestinian state, whether part of a two-state or single Israeli-Palestinian state solution. Contributing writer, John Mason, takes us into the heart of this frayed issue.

New Israeli Prime Minister has discussions with the White House—with few prospects for the Palestinians

Israeli Prime Minister Bennet arrived in Washington last week to remake the U.S.-Israel relationship following the Trump-Netanyahu years of bias totally favoring Israel. Bennett’s one ‘concession’ to Biden was that he would not attempt to annex the West Bank. Because Bennet controls the Knesset by only one vote, he is in no position to make big promises anyway, but he has no intention of doing anything for the Palestinians, given his animosity towards them and his extreme anti-peace and anti-state stance. Contributing writer John Mason discusses this purely symbolic visit.
