For Immediate Release

November 25, 2015, Washington DC– Arab America, one of the leading providers of digital media to and about Arab Americans has released a video depicting a Syrian refugee who is thankful to be in America and doesn’t want to be perceived as a terrorist.

Arab America decided to see how travelers at Union Station in Washington DC would react to a simple message from a Syrian refugee written on a make-shift sign:

“I am a Muslim Syrian Refugee, not a terrorist.
I am thankful to be in America on this Thanksgiving.
If you believe in me, give me a hug.”

The reaction was unexpected, but not surprising as America has always been a nation that prides itself in its tolerance and acceptance of immigrants.

As an Arab American from Syrian immigrants himself, Warren David, president of Arab America said, “In the wake of negative images in the media and racist comments via political rhetoric, it is refreshing to see that Americans are tolerant and loving when it comes to Syrian refugees.”

Arab America is a national organization founded with the purpose of promoting an accurate image about the Arab American community and the Arab world through the dissemination of digital media via the web, email, social media, radio, and television.
