Rebuilding Gaza: The humanitarian and reconstruction needs.

posted on: Aug 3, 2015

For 51 days in the summer of 2014, Gaza experienced what is described as the worst destruction and displacement since the start of the Israeli occupation in 1967. One year later, there are few signs of rebuilding.

The 2014 war in Gaza destroyed or damaged much of the health, economic, agricultural and water/sanitation sectors. More than 450 schools, businesses, health clinics, mosques and other civilian structures were damaged or reduced to rubble. More than 42,000 acres of farmland were destroyed. Thousands of farmers, fishermen and factory workers lost their jobs.

One year later, there are few signs of rebuilding.  What is needed?

In its latest “On The Ground Report,” ANERA offers a valuable resource tool that summarizes the extent of damage caused by the 2014 war and the urgent humanitarian and reconstruction needs in the wake of the destruction.

The report “Rebuilding Gaza-An Overview of the Humanitarian and Reconstruction Needs,” provides facts and figures about the damage and the short and long-term needs for recovery, as well as personal stories from people caught in the fray who are trying to rebuild their homes, their work and their lives.
