There’s so much passion behind soccer, around the world. Whether it is called footbl or soccer, there is a huge culture of supporting your country while they go into the world cup or any major soccer game. The world cup occurs every four years and happens every 2 years after the Europe League. With the recent news of Messi playing for a Qatar-owned team, the next world cup could be very interesting for the host of the games. Read on to find out what exactly those who decide to go to Qatar for the world cup will be signing up for.
Soccer has been on my mind ever since the EU cup where England played Italy. Looking next at the next big soccer event that will be on TV all across the planet, soccer fanatics are begging to watch teams compete for the title of World Cup Champions. Like the Olympics, the World Cup is an enormous event, and Qatar is prepared to host 1 million people at the World Cup in 2022. Could you be one of the 1 million?
In 2022, the Arab world will be proud together, as sports are more intense and popular than ever. “Football, which is also known as soccer, is one of, if not the most popular sport worldwide. Therefore, it is only fair that football is also one of the most popular sports in the Arab world. However, football also has a deeper meaning in this region. Due to issues within various government regimes having to do with gender and racial politics, many people used sports, specifically football, as a means to escape government control and take matters into their own hands.” According to Emily Devereaux/Arab America Contributing Writer.
It all couldn’t be better timing, Qatar is also in the news recently because of the recent signing of Lionel Messi to PSG (Paris Saint-Germain). At first glance or first mention, this doesn’t seem like much. However, Qatar Sports Investments actually owns PSG, meaning that the tiny country has acquired a very valuable player, legendary even. According to goal.com, “Before 2021, Messi reached three Copa America finals and one World Cup final, losing each time. However, he does boast an Olympic gold medal and one from the Under-20 World Cup.” Additionally he has been 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year and 2019 The Best FIFA Men’s Player. We will have to see.
In the small country that is Qatar, 8 stadiums will make up the world cup. For instance, “The Lusail Stadium is one of the most important football stadiums of the tournament because of the two biggest matches held on the ground, It will be selected for the opening ceremony and the Final match of the 2020 FIFA World Cup. But also this is going to give many facilities including island, luxury shopping, and many more.” According to fifaworldcupnews.com, It will be interesting to see how the accommodations for the athletes as well as the prestige of the stadiums compare to those of the past. Any major world sporting event almost always means that the host country is going all out in preparation. Not to mention that Qatar is named the richest country in the world.
If there aren’t any changes in the schedule, expect the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. They have, after all, been preparing for this event since before the pandemic hit the world hard in 2019. According to Bloomberg on June 4, 2021, “Qatar’s preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup are nearing completion and the tournament is expected to go ahead despite pandemic-related setbacks, the country’s ruler said Friday.”
