A portion of the works currently on view at Paris’s Arab World Institute as part of the exhibition “La Palestine à l’IMA”have been promised to Palestine’s national museum, which is currently under construction in the West Bank. The exhibition, which opened on February 18, will run until March 20, 2016.

Jack Lang, president of the Arab World Institute, told Le Monde, “We hope that hosting the collection of this future museum will create a solid foundation to assure the project’s sustainability.”

Among the artists who have donated works to the Palestinian museum are Erró, Gérard Fromanger, Pierre Buraglio, Hervé Di Rosa, Jean Le Gac, Julio Le Parc, Jacques Tardi, and Hervé Télémaque. The transfer of these works to Palestine is likely to happen in the next three to five years, “according to financial progress and local politics,” said Claude Mollard, who will take charge of the collection as long as it remains in Paris.
