Nikki Haley Hates--No Matter if it's the UN, UNRWA, or Iran

According to the Arab Center, Nikki Haley, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, participated in an August 28 discussion at the pro-Israel Foundation for the Defense of Democracies.  After accepting the Jeanne J. Kirkpatrick Award for Statesmanship from the Washington, D.C.-based “think-tank”, Haley went on to attack the UN, UNRWA, and Iran.

Claiming that there is an anti-Israel bias at the UN, Haley focused on the Human Rights Council (of which Saudi Arabia is a member).  She said that this prejudice was the reason the United States left the Council.  Continuing, the ambassador noted that she supported National Security Advisor John Bolton’s plan to end American financing of the Council.

Again alleging anti-Israel and anti-American propaganda being taught in Palestinian schools, Haley emphasized her backing for Donald J. Trump’s decision to end American funding of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Administration).  The organization, set up in 1949, supports roughly 5 million Palestinian refugees, driven out of their homeland by Zionists in 1948.

Ambassador Haley went further, however.  “She repeated the dubious claim that Palestinians are the only refugees whose status is hereditary and criticized what she considered an erroneous definition of ‘refugee’ used by UNRWA in order to inflate the number of Palestinians considered refugees from their ancestral lands.”  Haley declared “that the right of return should be ‘taken off the table,’ much like Jerusalem was by Trump and his leading officials.”

Haley, whose support for Israel has caused informed journalists to believe she is really the apartheid entity’s diplomat, then went on to attack Iran.  Bragging that the U.S. got out of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) with her help; she went on to say, “I never thought the Iran deal could be fixed. I mean, you give literally millions of dollars to this country and they don’t stop their ballistic missile testing; they don’t stop selling arms and they continue to support terrorism. In no way is that a good deal for anyone in the international community but Iran.”  (This author is unaware of any money which the U.S. gave Iran, other than returning monies seized from that country’s American assets.  In fact, a federal court in New York City has ordered Iran to give Americans funds.)

Getting even wilder, Haley went off on human shields, blaming Iran.  “Iran is behind so much of the problem with human shields. If you look at the Houthis in Yemen, if you look at what we’re dealing with Hezbollah and Hamas. Whether it’s in Gaza, whether it’s in Lebanon, all of the areas where we have to deal with human shields, Iran is behind it.”

COMMENT:  Let’s give the last word to that excellent journalist and astute political commentator, Hafsa Kara-Mustapha.  Her focus was Trump and the UN, but it fits both the Palestinians and Iranians:  “In a sense, he’s doing the Palestinian cause a service. When they have nothing to expect from the US they have nothing to lose. Aid was keeping them in shackles and forcing them to accept whatever the US was dictating.”
