A shop in America has sparked outrage with a racist sign saying ‘Obama and other Muslims not welcome here.’
The sign is on the window of Mayhill convenience store, in New Mexico, that is reportedly owned by Kevin Crouch.
The store has previously included signs in support of the KKK, that targeted Hillary and Bill Clinton and advertised ‘Obama toilet paper’.
The convenience store has provoked outrage with his offensive sign in its shop window
It has displayed a sign that read ‘Kill Obama’ and sells them to customers.
Another flyer targeted NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who famously protested at police violence against black people by kneeling during the national anthem before matches, by calling him an ‘overpaid half breed’ athlete who should ‘go back to Africa’.
Customers have also complained about the shop’s hygiene, claiming it has cockroaches on the walls and accusing the owner of selling out of date food.
Former store employee Marlon McWilliams told KOB: ‘If you go in there and you offend him, you can’t go in there no more. He turns a lot of people away.’
Mr McWilliams said the signs were offensive and he no longer went into the store.
The shop is currently for sale for $359,000.
‘I wish somebody would buy it,’ said Mr McWilliams. ‘I really do, because it would be a great asset for somebody to be there to run it. Because that’s the only place you can go to get milk and bread.’
KOB reported that police have not yet opened an investigation into the store as no one has made a complaint.
Customers have also complained about the shop’s hygiene, claiming it has cockroaches on the walls and accusing the owner of selling out of date food.
Ibrahim Hooper, national communications director of the Council of American-Islamic Relations [CAIR], said: ‘While everyone has the First Amendment right to free speech even offensive speech we urge the store’s owner to remove the sign in the interest of common decency and of our nation’s unity at a time of increasing divisions.’
CAIR said there were more than 900 anti-Muslim incidents in the month after Donald Trump was elected, including Muslim women being targeted and mosques being threatened.
Writing on Facebook, Noel August Blair said: ‘I only support stores that welcome all people regardless of their religion, color of their skin, or political ideology.
‘By posting a sign that states that only certain people can enter your convenience store, you are participating in the same discrimination that we worked so hard to eliminate many years ago. Please remove all signs preventing certain people from coming into your store immediately.’
Kate Oldham added: ‘Your derogatory and offensive signs only make America a terrible place to live, full of hate and discrimination. I hope your store sells soon so someone with compassion, love, and kindness can serve the town.
Dona Stebbins commented: ‘This man is what’s wrong with America. Hateful, bigoted, racist and pathetically stupid.’
Another said: ‘Kevin Crouch is not a pleasant person to deal with. The store is up for sale because he has driven so many people away that he can no longer make a living.’
MailOnline has approached Mr Crouch for a comment.
