New Arab-American plays showing through July 12
Three Minnesota-based playwrights are presenting new work as part of the inaugural Arab-American Theatre Works series, Friday through July 12 at Mixed Blood Theatre. Theatergoers can see all three plays on each of the weekends of the series.
They are:
— Kathryn Haddad’s “Road to the City of Apples,” a tale of the deepening friendship of two undocumented Palestinians on a road trip in the U.S.A.
— Taous Claire Khazem’s “In Algeria They Know My Name,” which stars Khazem as a woman whose American-raised views are challenged when she falls in love with an Algerian.
— Mohammed Yabdri and Noah Bremer’s “A Clown in Exile,” about a performer looking for a place to call home.
Tickets are $15 for the first show and $10 for each additional show, but they’re free for residents of the 55454 zip code (Minneapolis’ West Bank neighborhood). For more information, visit newarabamericantheatreworks.com.
