National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce Recognizes Tunisia's Fayçal Gouia as "Ambassador of the Year"
The National U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) announced today that His Excellency Fayçal Gouia, Tunisia’s Ambassador to the United States, has been selected as NUSACC’s 2019 “Ambassador of the Year.” This award, begun in 2004, is given annually to a member of the Arab diplomatic corps in the USA for his or her outstanding contributions to U.S. – Arab commercial relations. The invitation-only award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 18, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Washington DC.
“Our Chamber is delighted to recognize Ambassador Gouia for his work in promoting America’s warm relationship with the Republic of Tunisia, a nation that has seen remarkable changes in recent years,” said David Hamod, President & CEO of NUSACC. “Few countries enjoy the across-the-board bipartisan support in the United States that Tunisia has achieved, and this is due in large part to the tireless efforts of Ambassador Gouia, who has faced down Tunisia’s challenges in the USA with finesse and diplomatic aplomb. He has earned the respect and appreciation of all of us.”
Ambassador Gouia noted, “I am deeply honored to be recognized as Ambassador of the Year by the National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce, a highly respected and well-established organization that has contributed tremendously to the promotion of economic and commercial ties between the U.S. and the Arab world. I accept this honor on behalf of my team at the Embassy of Tunisia, as well as on behalf of my country, the Republic of Tunisia, which serves as a landmark of Democracy and freedom across the region.” (Click here to see the Ambassador’s biography.)
Ambassador Gouia’s efforts have had a clear impact on U.S. – Tunisia relations. Now in his fourth year as Tunisia’s Ambassador to the United States, he has built relationships with many Members of Congress and visited 35 States across the USA. His tours to the United States as a Tunisian diplomat prepared him well to serve as Ambassador, and his understanding of American culture and history has helped him to build long-lasting partnerships throughout the United States.
The National U.S. – Arab Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC), established nearly 50 years ago, is America’s longest-serving organization dedicated to U.S. – Arab business. NUSACC is widely regarded as the voice of American business in the 22 countries of the Arab world and the premier portal to the United States for Arab commercial enterprises. NUSACC is the first organization of its kind to receive the President’s “E” Award for Export Service, the highest recognition that any U.S. entity may receive for supporting export activity.
The Chamber is an independent, membership-driven entity that is funded by its members and stakeholders, which include more than 40,000 companies. NUSACC is the only business entity in the United States that is officially recognized and authorized by the League of the Arab States and the Union of Arab Chambers. As such, NUSACC is a “sister chamber” of the chambers of commerce throughout the Arab world, including the Republic of Tunisia.
