Middle Eastern Culture, Community Come Together for Our Lady of Redemption’s 2015 Feast Day Festival, August 15-16
WARREN, MICH., July 20, 2015–Celebrate Middle Eastern culture with Our Lady of Redemption Melkite Catholic Church at their 2015 Feast Day Festival on Saturday, August 15, from 3 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, August 16, from 1 to 9 p.m. All activities will take place on the church premises at 29293 Lorraine Ave. in Warren with ample parking available. All are welcome.
The Festival will feature Arabic and American food, Arabic entertainment and dancing, including lessons in the traditional Arabic line dance, “debke,” a hookah lounge area, a backgammon tournament, games for children and tours of the architecturally awarded basilica-style church. Internationally renowned singer Usama Baalbaki will entertain on Saturday evening; singer Nasser Deeb will entertain on Sunday evening; and DJ Ehad will play Arabic and American dance music both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets for games and food will be sold at the event.
“We look forward to welcoming the community-at-large to our parish community to celebrate our culture, enjoy ethnic food and have fun together,” said Fr. Michel Cheble, pastor of Our Lady of Redemption.
This is a wonderful summertime family activity and will bring the whole community together for a weekend of cultural exploration and fun.
