It's a Dark Day for Palestine
By: Haider Umar/Arab America Contributing Writer
The most circulated story propagating around political news regarding Palestine is that Ilhan Omar is an out-right Anti-Semite because she represents the rights of U.S. citizens and stands to pledge allegiance to our flag, rather than that of a foreign nation. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and top Democrats are taking action today, Wednesday, in response to supposed controversial remarks by Rep. Ilhan Omar about Israel by passing the Anti- Semitism Resolution, the second such criticism of the freshman Democrat from party leaders in recent weeks.

Negative rhetoric about Ilhan started circulating again due to her supposed discriminatory comments made at a Washington, D.C event. During a Town Hall meeting at Busboys & Poets last week, Ilhan spoke about how our politicians seem to be focusing more on agendas set up for them through allegiance to a foreign nation rather than the United States. An Uproar emerged yet again in Congress, as senior staff of the Republican party started to villainize Omar, as they urge Democratic leadership to remove her from the Foreign Affairs Committee, where Ilhan’s a prominent member.

All such criticism or discriminatory labeling of Ilhan was advanced when a tweet of hers addressing the influence of money in politics was spun off as an “Anti-Semitic” trope. “ It’s all about Benjamin’s baby” Right-winged opposition of Omar exploded with outrage at the fact that someone mentioned money as an underlining influencer of U.S. politics, Blasphemy! Republicans cried!
The president also chimed in on the situation and stated that Omar’s latest controversial statement ‘is a dark day for Israel.” It is most definitely a “dark day” but not for Israelis but for the Palestinians whose human rights Ilhan Omar fights to protect.
Representative Ilhan Omar is again under fire for her terrible comments concerning Israel. Jewish groups have just sent a petition to Speaker Pelosi asking her to remove Omar from Foreign Relations Committee. A dark day for Israel!

#ISTANDWITHILHAN
Many prominent progressive organizations banded together in support of Ilhan Omar, as they implored Speaker Pelosi and Democratic leadership from partaking in such actions against Omar’s right to voice her opinions to her constituents.
Leaders Support Congresswoman Ilhan Omar | MPower Change
The Honorable Speaker Nancy Pelosi U.S. House of Representatives Washington, DC 20515 — Dear Speaker Pelosi, It has come to our attention that the House Democratic leadership plans to introduce a resolution originally intended to reprimand Congresswoman Omar for critical comments she made about Israel.
A guardian of the People
Ilhan’s successful introduction into Congress was however short-lived as Ilhan has become the supposed “public enemy #1” to some for her courageous stance against the influence of special interest groups on our government’s involvement in foreign nations, according to Omar such unchecked intrusion can have a severely damaging impact on the scope of American civil liberties. Ilhan also spoke about the impact such practices of foreign interest implementation can have on the nations and people we try to “help” under the banner of democracy
Abba Solomon, author of “The Speech, and Its Context”: Jacob Blaustein’s Speech “The Meaning of Palestine Partition to American Jews.” said: “’Anti-semitic tropes’ are tendentiously read into Omar’s comments. AIPAC allies should stop hiding behind Jews, and Democratic politicians should stop feigning such sensitivity to Jewish feelings when Zionist lobbying is the subject. It’s an offensive game
One of the things that is hurtful about the extent to which reprimand is sought of Ilhan is that no one seeks this level of reprimand when members make statements about Latinx + other communities (during the shutdown, a GOP member yelled “Go back to Puerto Rico!” on the floor). https://t.co/MwrRN4v4DG

Fellow progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) defended Ilhan, by stating that Ilhan has faced unjust consequences for speaking out about interest groups for which Ilhan is being slandered as an anti-Semite.
Racist rhetoric posters in a Republican-sponsored event. A clear indication of the Republican ethical standard towards racism.
Ilhan continues to bravely face the fangs of her opponents who so blatantly employ bigoted tactics to obstruct her voice. These opponents have a double standard when it comes to issues they want to cause a scene about and incidents they want to avoid. Ilhan spoke about peace, posterity and conveying the voices of people that haven’t been heard for decades, who have been neglected, to manipulate her message into the false context of Anti-Semitism is shameful. Ilhan has stood up for the rights of the Semitic children of Palestine numerous times. She stands for the rights of U.S. civilians and their civil liberties.
Her party is condemning Ilhan’s brave stance against oppression and human rights violations and her outspoken attitude towards special interests groups; a betrayal caused because of growing democratic party tensions over Foreign interest influence in U.S. government.
