We’re all familiar with some famously misheard song lyrics. No, Annie Lennox doesn’t believe sweet dreams are made of cheese, and Johnny Nash can’t see clearly now, Lorraine is gone.

However, one recent aural illusion had fans thinking Ariana Grande had added a line in a completely different language during a performance.

In a tweet doing the rounds on social media, user @usavemeagain shared a clip of Grande singing her hit track Thinking Bout You, with a particular line in Arabic.

“She says ‘I am the one who stayed awake eight times’ or is there something wrong with my ears,” the translated caption read.

However, it all appears to be a piece of audio trickery, as the 25-year-old is actually crooning: “But at least I have the memory.”

The clip appears to have been recorded during Grande’s Dangerous Woman tour, which took place in 2017, however this was the first time the clip had resurfaced with Arabic comparisons.

While she might not actually be speaking the language, the clip garnered quite the response on Twitter, with many fans commenting that they now couldn’t hear the lyrics in English.

Grande has, however, previously recorded a Spanglish version of her song The Way, as well as a duet in Italian with Andrea Bocelli.

Language skills aside, the award-winning star also added another accolade to her ever-growing CV this week, as she became the most-followed female on Instagram.

Grande dethroned fellow singer Selena Gomez on the photo-sharing platform, as she gained 146.44 million followers.

The most-followed man, and person, on Instagram is footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, with more than 156 million followers.
