CAIRO – 17 September 2018: Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Alexandria Library) has taken an initiative to recall rich Arabian culture and heritage that was destructed in the past years by the unfortunate regional cultural demolishing, said Mostafa El Feky, manager of the library.

This initiative became possible after an agreement between Bibliotheca Alexandrina and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). Moreover, the manager especially greeted Suleiman Herbish, the general Manager of OFID, for his role in preserving Arab culture and heritage. Herbish received his academic education in Egypt and views it as his second home.

Herbish further explained that Egypt has a special spot in his heart. He says he dearly loved all his friends, family and colleagues which he met in Egypt throughout his lifetime. He further stated that Egypt is the leading country in the region in all aspects, and has always inspired developing countries to take steps for reform.

Furthermore, Herbish revealed that the OFID works together with countries in the region in order to achieve sustainable development through combating poverty, ignorance and poor healthcare systems. The man further stated that preserving and protecting any nation’s culture/heritage is considered as the fourth pillar by which sustainable development is achieved.

The project/initiative labeled “In the memory of Arabs” includes an electronic website, printouts, scientific conferences and a network for researches to share and document any information regarding Arab heritage.
