IN PICTURES: Meet Saudi’s Youngest Diver in the Arab World

Young Saudi Battel Abdul Rahman al-Ahmari was named the youngest diver in the Arab world, during a ceremony in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh on Friday evening, and entered the Encyclopedia of Arab Achievers.

Battal’s father, who is into sports activities with the Saudi army  in Tabuk region in northwestern of the Kingdom said: “Battal started swimming and diving at the age of three during which diving instructors noticed his talents and then he started to train under the supervision of the military sport academy and could accomplish the title of the youngest diver at the age of five years in 2015.”

The proud father added that his young son was celebrated by many officials and that he will be awaiting to receive the International permit of diving at the age of 10.

For his part, the young diver Battal thanked the “Arab Achivers” officials for the wonderful ceremony saying: “I present this achievement to my country, its leader and crown prince who is keen to support such achievements through the Vision 2030.”

He also thanked his parents by saying: “They have been by my side since the age of five years.”

Waleed al-Arabi, founder of the Encyclopedia of Arab Achievers said: “This honor comes in recognition of those Arab achievements that need to be preserved, documented and presented to everyone.”
