Sponsored: Gaming Within the Arab World
Gaming in the Middle East is now an incredibly popular pastime. More and more countries in the Arab world are embracing modern technology and enjoying gaming, and that trend only looks set to continue for the foreseeable future.
One of the best things about the gaming industry is the fact that there is now so much to choose from. We’ve got incredibly advanced games consoles, VR headsets, there are MMORPGs, RPGs, platform games, horror, action, sport, retro classics, online gaming, and games we can enjoy on our mobile devices.
Online gaming has steadily increased in popularity in the Middle East, and now, gaming within the Arab world is worth some serious money.
But what are the most popular gaming genres amongst Arab nationals? Let’s take a look, shall we? Here’s a look at the most popular game genres within the Arab world.
Online gambling – In the Arab world, online gambling is very popular, thanks in part to the advancements in modern technology such as smartphones and tablets. Online casino classics are very popular, as is sports betting, similar to their UK betting counterparts. As gambling grows throughout the world, Arab customers have seen their choice of apps and websites increase, as more and more payment methods become available for online casinos and betting sites.
RTS Games – RTS games stand for Real Time Strategy games, and as the name implies, they’re certainly great for keeping the brain sharp.
Research has found that many Arab countries enjoy playing RTS games. RTS games such as Age of Empires, and the Command and Conquer series, allow players to basically build armies, empires, and followings. Basically, they allow you to become a military tactician and to build and command armies to defeat your opponents.
RTS games used to be popular on PCs and consoles, but now it is the mobile phone that dominates the RTS game market.
MOBA Games – MOBA stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. Now, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, you’ll no doubt be aware of the global MOBA phenomenon that is Fortnite.
Fortnite, PUBG, and Rocket League, are just some prime examples of MOBA games. In the Arab world, it turns out that MOBA games are serious business.
Basically, the idea behind MOBA games is that teams, or individuals, are placed inside a large battle arena/map, and the objective is to defeat their opponents. Players can build strongholds, search for weapons and power ups etc, and hunt down the enemy.
MOBA games are a lot of fun to play, and they’re great to watch as well.
RPGs – RPGs, or Role Playing Games, have been enjoyed for decades now, and are still hugely popular all over the world, not just in Arab countries.
RPGs are great as they help to provide a sense of escapism from the mundane. After a long day at work, or class, there’s nothing better than getting home, switching on your console or computer, and escaping into an RPG world of quests, enchanted lands, forests, mountains, dragons, wizards, and fantasy. RPGs have even made their way into some casinos like Gamblem that allow people to play casinos virtually.
The hugely successful The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, did incredibly well in many Arab countries, even though the dialogue was not translated to Arabic. As a result, more and more role playing games are being adapted for the Middle Eastern market.
