Feeding Detroit Campaign : HYPE & LAHC Work Together to Give Back to the Community & Feed 1,000 Families
DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN- On Tuesday November 24, 2015 LAHC & HYPE Athletics Community will host their 5th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway. This joint effort will allow both organizations to feed 1,000 Metro Detroit families.
A press conference is scheduled to take place on November 24th at 9:30 a.m. at the HYPE Recreation Center located at 23302 West Warren Avenue in Dearborn Heights, MI 48127, followed by the turkey and canned food distribution from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
“LAHC is pleased to join forces with Hype Athletics on this effort. Indeed, this partnership will allow us to serve more people by providing a proper holiday meal to those in dire need”, states LAHC Executive Director Wassim Mahfouz.
This effort was made possible because of the generous support of Walmart, Marathon Petroleum Company, Meijer, UAW Ford, Comcast, Fifth Third Bank, Saad Meats, Greenland Market, Dearborn Fresh, DTE Energy, Ziyad Brothers Importing, Comcast, Faygo, Humana, Fast Splash, The Salvation Army and Rizzo Environmental Services.
“We are grateful to our partners for their unremitting support. This annual tradition will allow us to serve close to 4,000 people who will be able to enjoy their Thanksgiving Holiday this year”, states Ali Sayed, Hype Athletics Community, Founder and CEO”.
Local high schools from Metro Detroit will be sending the captains of their football teams to volunteer packing and distributing the meals.
HYPE (Helping Youth Progress & Excel) Athletics Community is a 501C-3 non-profit organization founded in 2001 with the mission to strengthen the infrastructure of Metro Detroit families through educational, athletic, physical fitness and social service programs. HYPE has serviced over 150,000 people in the past 13 years. The HYPE Recreation Center opened in May 2012 and is a state of the art facility with 5 basketball/volleyball/futsal courts, an indoor track, 2 weight training areas, a computer lab, a library, 2 classrooms, a café and a banquet hall.
LAHC is a 501(c) 3 non-profit human services organization dedicated to the provision of a wide array of services throughout Southeast Michigan. The mission of the LAHC is to promote the educational, cultural, health and social affairs of the community. Using a holistic approach to address community issues, our staff and volunteers work to meet the needs of both individuals and families regardless of race, religion, ethnic background, country of origin or sexual orientation.
