Hello beloved community ❤️

We welcome you to Solidarity Stoop: An Art Fundraiser for Palestine, Sudan, and Congo, the very first fundraiser at Sunset Park’s newest local-owned creative bar and music venue, Sunset Stoop! Join us for a night full of music, art, community, and movement for the movement benefitting our siblings in Palestine, Sudan, and Congo. This event takes inspiration from the creativity and collaborative magic of the Palestinian solidarity student encampments, where many of us were given the chance to see what is possible when we combine our collective gifts. Together, we will strengthen and inspire community through the arts while supporting the survival of our fellow humans suffering violent humanitarian crises at the hands of imperialist power in Palestine, Sudan, and Congo. At Solidarity Stoop, we invite you to activate your creativity and radical joy in the name of our collective right to liberation and prosperity, remembering that all struggles, local and global, are intertwined.

What to expect:

Event will go from 5 PM-1:30 AM.

We’ll start the night off with some local DJs playing from 5-9 PM inside the bar, while outside we’ll have a silent art auction on an amazing variety of art pieces, an art market with some affordable pieces for sale, free and donation based political education materials, a table dedicated to sharing your own actions, initiatives, and fundraisers, and a table featuring our local community-building champions from Plaza Proletaria (https://www.instagram.com/plazaproletaria/) who will be educating on and fundraising for the amazing work that they do in the local community of Sunset Park. There will be local food vendors present, with plenty of other nearby food options!

Once the clock strikes 9, we’ll be closing down the backyard and inviting everyone inside for a variety show sure to please the senses. Our community is full of skill and talent of all kinds, so our show will feature everything from Live Rap, Burlesque, Circus Arts, Bhangra, and Bellydance. You’ll want to stick around for this!

After the excitement of our variety show, stick around to move and groove in your newly inspired state to the sounds of some more amazing local DJs bathed in visual projections by the one and only Jarid Blue (https://www.instagram.com/kingmallard/) until last call at 1:30 AM.

Suggested Donation of $25 for entry.

100% of proceeds (with the exception of bar proceeds) will be donated. We are still in the process of choosing benefitted organizations, so please email jrubyhoops@gmail.com with your recommendations! Currently, we are connected to a few individuals fundraising in Gaza, so the idea is to donate to these individuals directly in Palestine, and choose two organizations supporting Sudan and Congo. All funds raised from this event will be evenly distributed to each named group.
