About this event

Featuring Kamelya Omayma Youssef, Lara Atallah, Mariam Bazeed, Sahar Delijani, Sahar Romani, Siham Inshassi, & Tala Abu Rahmeh.

Presented by the New Third World Reading Series Asian American Writers’ Workshop, we invite you to join us for a brilliant and necessary evening of poetry toward liberation, toward love, toward memory, toward return. The event will feature readings by the incomparable Kamelya Omayma Youssef, Lara Atallah, Mariam Bazeed, Sahar Delijani, Sahar Romani, Siham Inshassi, & Tala Abu Rahmehemceed by Malvika Jolly. This event is a fundraiser for eSIM cards to keep Palestine online.

There will be zines made by Mariam Bazeed as well as broadsides from several of the readers designed and printed by Lara Atallah for sale. All proceeds will go toward our final total toward purchasing eSIM cards for Palestinians without internet or phone connection. Tickets are $0-30 for in-person attendees, and FREE for the Zoom live stream. If you attend the live stream, we encourage you to donate directly to make a donation through our Eventbrite page.

All in-person attendees will receive a free copy of AAWW’s Best of The Margins.

This lineup was created in collaboration with former Margins Fellow, Ghinwa Jawhari and Malvika Jolly of The New Third World Reading Series. The title of this event comes from Mahmoud Darwish’s poem “From: A Lover from Palestine,” translated from Arabic by B.M. Bennani.
