About the Webinar
In January 2014, a group of experts released a shocking report detailing the mass killing and torture inside Syria’s detention centers. The report was based on thousands of photos of dead detainees taken by a Syrian defector code-named “Caesar,” who had worked as a forensic photographer for Syrian Military Intelligence. While the report and shocking images were clear evidence of systematic mass murder inside Syria’s prisons, the UN Security Council failed to refer Syria to the International Criminal Court due to a double veto by Russia and China in May 2014. Ten years later, additional information documenting Syria’s torture and killing of detainees continues to surface, yet the international community is unable to hold the Assad regime accountable for its human rights abuses.

Arab Center Washington DC is hosting a webinar to speak with the experts who played a crucial role in drafting the Caesar Report and examine the prospects for justice and accountability in Syria.
