About the eventEternal Egypt: From King Tut to the Arab Spring with John Maietta
This two-part program(2/20 & 2/27) will take you on a fascinating journey through 5,000 years of Egyptian civilization. We’ll begin by exploring the glories of ancient Egypt: the temples, tombs, and treasures that still have a powerful hold on our imaginations today.
Less well known is the heritage of early Jewish and Christian life, still seen in the narrow lanes of Old Cairo. Finally, we’ll highlight the last millennium of Muslim rule in Egypt, which brought new challenges to this timeless land – culminating in the 2011 “Arab Spring” revolt. Part history, part travelouge, this program will give you a new appreciation for the beauty, grandeur, and lasting cultural impact of Eternal Egypt.
