IIBA’s 7th Annual Comedy Night for Immigrant Rights features Aparna Nancherla, Bassem Youssef, Jackie Kashian, and Sheng Wang!
Aparna Nancherla started out doing comedy in her hometown of Washington D.C. and now resides in New York City. She is a series regular in Comedy Central’s “Corporate” and reprised her role in season 2 of HBO’s “Crashing”. Aparna is also featured in the second season of Netflix’s “The Standups” and other hit comedy shows.
Bassem Youssef, dubbed the Jon Stewart of the Arab World, was the host of popular TV show Al-Bernameg – which was the first of its kind political satire show in the Middle East. Originally an online 5-minute show, Al-Bernameg became the most watched show in the history of Egyptian TV with an average of 40 million viewers every week.
Jackie Kashian has been doing standup for over 35 years. Last seen on the Late Late Show with James Corden, her new Special (and album of the same title) Stay-Kashian was #1 on Amazon, iTunes and debuted #3 on Billboard’s Comedy Chart. She also has two podcasts: “The Dork Forest” and “The Jackie and Laurie Show.”
Sheng Wang is a comedian, actor and writer originally from Houston, TX. His first Netflix special, “Sweet and Juicy” (produced/directed by Ali Wong) is streaming now. He was a featured stand-up on HBO’s “2 Dope Queens” special and also wrote for the ABC show “Fresh Off the Boat.”
