ABOUT UPF
– Representations of Muslims in popular entertainment promote misunderstanding and prejudice.
– Muslims depicted as violent villains have caused significant damage.
– But what about movies and TV Programs that show the other side? Where are the films showing Muslims as contributing to society and the films showing the compassionate values of Islam?
-What about films that show Muslims as coming from a great religious and civilizational tradition?
– Presenting a positive Muslim narrative is needed. This is what the work of UPF is about.
– The Emmy-nominated UPF has an excellent track record of changing the cultural discourse around Muslims.
– UPF has successfully shaped the accurate portrayal of Muslim characters, having worked with the creators of popular tv series, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Simpsons, Transplant, and more, to change how Muslim characters are written and portrayed in film & TV.
– UPF Films like The Sultan and the Saint, promoting Muslim-Christian peacemaking, and The Great Muslim American Road Trip The films have been aired on Nat Geo, ABC, PBS, and more, to a viewership of tens of millions of Americans.
