Ceasefire in Gaza:

Challenges and Struggles Ahead

After 15 months of genocidal war on Gaza, a ceasefire agreement has been reached that will bring an end to Israel’s onslaught. With several ceasefire agreements blocked by Israel since the start of the genocide, the impending deal is set to take effect on Sunday, January 19. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, Israel continues to kill Palestinians in Gaza, denying those who survived the genocide any respite.

This timely and significant conversation will feature contributions from Hani Almadhoun (Co-founder, Gaza Soup Kitchen), Helena Cobban (CEO, Just World Books), and Max Blumenthal (Editor in Chief, The Grayzone) who will contextualize the ceasefire agreement, discuss the struggles that Palestinians have endured throughout the genocide, and offer reflections on the immediate future for Gaza and the rest of Palestine.

Date: Thursday, January 23

Time: 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Location: The Jerusalem Fund

(2425 Virginia Ave NW, Washington DC 20037)

In 2010 she founded Just World Books, which has published ground-breaking titles by Palestinian, Zionism-questioning Jewish, and other authors; and in 2016 she was a co-founder of Just World Educational, which she now serves as president.
