Fighting erupted in Sudan on April 15th as the army and paramilitary forces RSF clashed, leaving at least 500 people dead, more than 4000 injured, and hundreds of thousands displaced, according to the UN. The indiscriminate attacks are targeting residential neighborhoods and hospitals. Air strikes and militias roaming the streets are terrorizing families,
who are having to flee their homes and cities in search of safety, food and water. The international community & the US have been slow to respond. Many Sudanese American citizens are unable to evacuate. There are more than 1500 Sudanese living in Northern California who are shocked and
traumatized, while trying to assist their families in Sudan amidst violence, crumbling infrastructure and devastation. The Sudanese diaspora in California is mobilizing to help coordinate safe escape routes, medical aid, searches for missing persons, and fundraising.
