Dearborn School District Announces Staff Changes—Three Arab Americans Promoted
The Dearborn Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko announced several staff changes that were made over the summer and during the first few weeks of the 2015-16 school year.
In June, the school board selected Dr. Maleyko to serve as the new Superintendent of the Dearborn Public Schools. Since beginning his career as a substitute teacher in the district nearly 20 years ago, Dr. Maleyko has held positions of increasing responsibility, including assistant principal, principal and, most recently, Executive Director of Staff and Student Services.
“We are pleased to announce the following staff changes, placing highly qualified, experienced educators in new leadership roles as we continue to improve instruction and modify our organizational structure to ensure success for all students success in our district,” noted Superintendent Maleyko.
In addition to several administrative staff changes, the following Arab Americans were promoted:
Ms. Maysam Alie-Bazzi has been appointed Executive Director of Staff and Student Services for the school district. Previously she was Principal at Woodworth Middle School and Assistant Principal at Fordson High School.
Ms. Nada Fouani was named District Leadership Coach Coordinator after serving as Principal at William Ford Elementary. She will work with principals on implementing strategies to accelerate student progress in math, reading, writing and social studies, including the use of assessment and achievement data for planning.
Ms. Rima Hassan was promoted to Principal of Iris Becker Elementary School following her service as Assistant Principal at McCollough/Unis School and teacher at Dearborn High School.
