Culture Jamming: The Arab Narrative
We are all familiar with the “Us” vs. “Them” rhetoric that is so deeply engrained in American politics and popular culture. This theme was only exacerbated by the events of 9/11, after which Arabs and Muslims alike were demonized and made to be “the enemy” by the American political elite and its populace. This project was an opportunity to jam the popular media narrative that illustrates Arab men as barbaric, uncivilized, violent, bearded bomb-makers who oppress their women and preach the destruction of the West.
