Canadian "Crusader" Gets Caught in Anti-Muslim Lies by Palestinians #HummusHaters
With all the anti-Arab bashing we see in the news every week, Arab America is determined to expose those who discriminate against our community. We will recognize those who vilify the positive influence and contributions Arabs have made to the fabric of American society. And we will use hummus as our weapon. By naming those who vilify the Arab American community as #HummusHaters, we can express our culture positively while showing intolerance to bigotry.BY: Diego Reyes/Contributing Writer
Canadian right-wing journalist Faith Goldy has sparked controversy online after she posted a video on Twitter attacking the Muslim call to prayer in Bethlehem. In the video, Goldy claims that Bethlehem, the town where Jesus was born, has been “taken over” by Muslims and insists there should be a new crusade.
Muslim call to prayer across Bethlehem; Islam is now the official religion in the town where Jesus was born. #deusvult pic.twitter.com/iwJ02SqMia

The “fearless journalist and devout Catholic who stands up for family values, freedom, and firearms” reports for a very conservative news site call The Rebel Media and was sent on a crowdfunded trip to Israel on what they called a “fact-finding mission.” Goldy and her colleagues demonstrate their huge support for Israel throughout their videos and expressed their anger at how Jesus’s birthplace has turned into a Muslim-majority city.
Through their videos they also urge the launch of a new “crusade.” For this, Goldy and her team have the best solution: “we’ll take it over and then we’ll live here… we’ll have probably like five-twelve children minimum… it’ll be very attractive for people to come here, and we’re going to discriminate based on your religion.”
She ends the video with “Deus vult,” a battle cry used by Crusaders in 1095 when the Frist Crusade was declared as a way to take arms. Although historians generally agree that the Crusades were a very dark and violent period, Goldy is ready to live under Israeli occupation in Bethlehem to make sure more Christians live there.
Christians in Bethlehem have no problem with the Muslim call for prayer, they encourage it actually. We don’t need a white ass dividing us https://t.co/jtq7YHzaIj

Naturally, the Twitter-verse blew up. Palestinian Christians and Muslims refuted Goldy’s claims that Bethlehem is “taken over” by Muslims. They informed her that it’s a diversely religious city, where people live harmoniously together.
Goldly also claimed that Bethlehem’s “official religion” is Islam in her video, but she seemed to forget that Bethlehem has no official religion, and neither does the Palestinian Authority. It’s a secular government.
@Darcalli @FaithGoldy well, Bethlehem churches ringing bells are a familiar phenomenon. Churches and mosques are side by side. No haters

This Canadian journalist went to the Holy Land to speak for all of Christianity, but never stopped to smell the hummus. The solidarity between Palestinian Christians and Muslims in occupied Jerusalem and the West bank is stronger than her attempts at dividing them through lies and “crusades.”
Tarek on Twitter said it best: “Christians left the city because of occupation, checkpoints and the wall yet she want us to believe that Muslims praying is the reason?”
