Arafat's Home to be Museum
In a rare moment of cooperation, Hamas on Monday turned-over the Gaza Strip home of Yassir Arafat to the Fatah faction, his party, so that plans to turn it into a museum honoring the iconic Palestinian can move forward. Hamas took control of the property in 2007 when it wrested control of Gaza from the Palestinian Authority and it has remained closed since that time. The anniversary of Arafat’s death falls on November 11. Speaking to the Associated Press, Yassir Arafat Foundation board member Jameel Al-Majdalawi said the goal is “transforming this house to a national museum for all our people, where we will collect the heritage of this peerless leader.”
