A solid batch of Arab music talent is set to grace the stage of the closing ceremony for the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Iraqi crooner Waleed Al Shami, will be joined by Emirati singer Hamad Al Ameri and Bahrani-Saudi talent Rashed Al Majed. The trio will provide the musical backdrop to what is set to be an extravagant closing party for the thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities who competed in the week-long Games.

And it won’t just be the athletes honoured on stage at Zayed Sports City on Thursday, as the 20,000 volunteers will have their moment in the spotlight in celebration of their dedication to the Games, of which they have been the backbone.

Athletes and coaches will take part in a parade to officially bring the curtain down on the largest sporting and humanitarian event of the year.

The closing ceremony will also feature the world premiere of the music video for the official song of Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019, Right Where I’m Supposed To Be. The anthem was sung by Avril Lavigne, Tamer Hosny, Luis Fonsi, Hussain Al Jassmi during the opening ceremony last Thursday.

The closing ceremony will be open to the public and begins at 7pm. Tickets are available for purchase at ticketmaster.ae at a cost of Dh60.
