Singer Paul Anka is the latest entertainer supposed to perform at the inauguration of Donald Trump as the nation’s 45 president.
Trump will be sworn in Friday, Jan. 20, on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.
According to a report in Radar Online, the 75-year-old crooner will perform his most famous song, “My Way,” with new lyrics re-written for his long-time friend and incoming president.
The Canadian-born Anka is supposed to perform the song during the inaugural dance for Trump and his wife Melania, who will become the First Lady.
The singer is best known for his hits “Diana”, “Lonely Boy”, “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”, and “(You’re) Having My Baby”. He also wrote the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and the English lyrics for Frank Sinatra’s signature song, “My Way”, which has been covered by many including Elvis Presley.
Historically, big name stars have performed at the various inauguration events.
But after a long and divisive campaign against Democrat Hillary Clinton, finding A-list acts has not been easy for the Trump team. Rumors have been circulating about who is and who is not performing at the Trump inauguration.
Among those who will perform are the Radio City Rockettes; “America’s Got Talent” singer Jackie Evancho, who’ll sing the national anthem, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Elton John, Celine Dion and Andrea Boccelli have said they will not be performing.
