Arab American comedian Mohammed Amer ended up next to Eric Trump on a flight to Scotland Wednesday, and he said he used the opportunity to ask the president-elect’s son about the incoming administration.
“Hey guys heading to Scotland to start the U.K. Tour and I am ‘randomly’ chosen to sit next to non other than Eric Trump,” Amer wrote on Facebook. “Good news guys Muslims will not have to check in and get IDs. That’s what I was told. I will be asking him a lot of questions on this trip to Glasgow, Scotland. Sometimes God just sends you the material.”
The post gained a fair amount of traction online, with many commenting with their own questions for Trump.
One Amer fan wrote: “Ask him what they plan to do about the white supremacists in his father’s team and all of them that support his father from among the people.”
Another commented: “You are a better person than I am Mo. I would have asked to move”; the comic replied that the seat was “too comfortable.”
During his campaign, Donald Trump made immigration reform a top priority, promising at one point to ban Muslims from entering the country, then later pivoting to a ban on immigration from countries with a high terrorism risk. And a Trump adviser told Reuters that he considered drafting a proposal for the president-elect about the creation of a registry for immigrating Muslims. The Trump team has denied any such plans.
