ACRL's Condemns Orlando Shooting
Press release:The American Arab Civil Rights League (ACLR)
The American Arab Civil Rights League (ACLR) strongly condemns the vicious attack that took place in an Orlando, Florida nightclub, resulting in mass casualties. We offer our deepest condolences to the victims of this monstrous shooting spree and their loved ones.
Although the gunman’s motives are not confirmed and some have linked them to his allegiance to ISIS, the Arab-American community denounces any and all forms of extremism and any ideologies that would result in such ruthless acts of violence. In the wake of the death of Muhammad Ali, we believe the world should look to his actions and beliefs as the true representatives of what Islam stands for, and not those who commit mass murder and pervert people’s view of Islam.
Those who commit these heinous acts are void of any humanity. The timing one day after the funeral of Mohamed Ali, demonstrates that this person and ISIS wish to only destroy Islam and kill innocent people. In clear violation of the basic tenets of the religion and humanity.
The ACRL is a civil rights organization committed to protecting the civil liberties of Arab Americans through education and advocacy. The organization works to build coalitions, promote understanding and cooperation, combat negative stereotypes, and serves a solid commitment to ensuring that their rights are protected and preserved.
