2016 Designated a ‘Year of Registration’
The Christian Lebanese Foundation in the World (CLFW) and Project Roots are designating 2016 as the ‘Year of Registration’ with a goal to significantly grow the number of Lebanese citizens in the United States, and to host additional registration drives in major U.S. cities.
“We’re glad to look ahead with new targets in 2016,” said Nada Abisamra, Director of CLFW and Project Roots. “We’re very pleased with our accomplishments over the past year, and excited to grow our many new initiatives.”
These initiatives include:
“Preserve Your Heritage” Scholarship Program
Twice per year, scholarships ranging from $500 to $2000 are awarded to eligible Lebanese-American families who submit at least three complete files for registration.
Lebanese International Networking Club (LINC)
Led by Lebanese-American young professionals, LINC aims to create a closely knit community of young Americans of Lebanese descent.
Free Tickets to Beirut
Every year on Mother’s Day, a drawing is held to award two free airline tickets to eligible Lebanese-Americans who successfully registered their marriage and/or child births through CLFW and Project Roots.
Free Educational Trips to Lebanon
Every summer, a group of students from around the world are selected to travel to Lebanon on an all-expense-paid trip through the Maronite Academy, where they visit major sights and attractions, and learn about Lebanese culture and history.
Year of Registration
An endeavor endorsed and supported by all bishops, Lebanese- American clubs and organizations, and Lebanese political parties in the United States with an objective to preserve diversity in Lebanon through registration.
To kickoff the new year, CLFW and Project Roots are hosting three campaigns in the following cities:
- West Covina, California – St. Jude Maronite Church – January 7 & 8 from 4 to 7:30pm
- Houston, Texas – St. George Orthodox Church – January 17 from 12 to 2pm
- Somerset, New Jersey – St. Sharbel Maronite Church – January 17 at 12:00pm

Several Lebanese celebrities have endorsed this important cause, including singer Nicolas El Osta, singer Toni Kiwan, religious singer Joumana Mdawar, congressional candidate Tonia Khouri, LBC-TV host Marcel Ghanem, and comedian Nemr Abou Nassar.
Supporting celebrities are part of a growing list of committee members, religious leaders, organizations, and political officials who support the mission of CLFW and Project Roots.
The organization also works in close partnership with Lebanon’s four consulate offices in the United States to process and follow-up on registration paperwork.
“I commend CLFW and Project Roots for their efforts to register the Americans of Lebanese descent,” said Ambassador Antoine Chedid, the former leading representative of Lebanon to the United States.

ABOUT CLFW & PROJECT ROOTS
The Christian Lebanese Foundation in the World (CLFW) is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization affiliated to the Maronite Foundation in the World. It was established in Washington, DC in November 2013 in order to reach out to all Lebanese in the USA and help them re-connect with their Lebanese roots. CLFW’s main objective is to preserve Lebanon’s specificity: its pluralistic society, its confessional conviviality, and its cultural diversity, through preserving the demographic balance among the different religious communities in Lebanon. For that purpose, it strives to register, through Project Roots, all Americans of Lebanese descent in the official registry of the Lebanese administration.
