Detroit Free Press, Don Was collaborate to spotlight Detroit’s greatest songs

Dearborn, Mich. (March 2, 2016) – The Concert of Colors – Detroit’s beloved annual diversity-themed musical celebration – has always had the whole world in its bands, including the indigenous music of the Motor City.

For its 24th annual affair, Thursday, July 14 through Sunday, July 17, 2016, Concert of Colors welcomes back Detroit native son and super producer Don Was for the 9th annual Don Was Detroit All-Star Revue, with a twist.

This Revue, set for 8 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, on the Meijer Main Stage at Orchestra Hall, will serve as the showcase for some of Detroit’s 50 Greatest Songs, a project of the Detroit Free Press which aims to find consensus on some of the city’s all-time best music, as selected by the public, artists and other music professionals. The project kicks off at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016, with a free public event at HopCat, 4265 Woodward Ave. in Midtown, where a panel of experts will discuss Motor City music and assemble the ballot of songs to be voted upon by the public.
