Appointment of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Bin Mubarak Yemen Ambassador to the United States
Ambassador Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak assumed his duties as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the United States on August 3rd, 2015.
Formerly, Ambassador Mubarak was the Director of the Presidential Office and Chief of Staff. Prior to taking up his appointment as the Director of the President’s office, Dr. Mubarak was Secretary General of Yemen’s National Dialogue Conference (NDC), leading a team of over 120 staff facilitating the mediation process among the participating 565 delegates, and providing technical assistance to NDC working groups. Additionally, during his tenure as NDC Secretary General, Dr. Mubrak co-chaired the steering committee of the Multi-Partner Peace Building Trust Fund. Following the successful conclusion of the National Dialogue Conference, Dr. Mubarak was appointed on January 25th, 2014, member and rapporteur of the Regions Committee.
Ambassador Mubarak holds a PhD in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Baghdad. Upon completing his doctoral degree, he undertook a number of academic teaching positions at Sanaa University. Dr. Mubarak established the Outreach Maastricht School of Management Program at Sanaa University, and became the Director of the Center of Business Administration for Post Graduate Studies in 2007 — which offers the only internationally accredited MBA program in Yemen.
Dr. Mubarak authored a number of academic papers in the fields of sustainable development, political transitions and other papers on Yemen’s experience conducting the National Dialogue Conference. Ambassador Mubarak is the current Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Youth Leadership Development Foundation (YLDF).
